Instagram is testing a new full screen feed to provide a more “immersive experience” for users – here's what that means 👇
When you open the app, your Instagram feed will become full screen (9:16 ratio) that aligns with video and sound on options 🎥 (i.e. Sound will also match your devices settings in this new view, whereas previously sound had to be turned on in Instagram no matter what your devices settings were).
This feature will enable Instagram to continue bringing video content front and centre in the feed, particularly with the huge success of reels. 📱It will also mean more suggested video content appears in your feed.

You will still have access to the nav bar at the bottom, which will continue to have the discovery tab, reels, shop, and access to your own account. Stories will remain at the top.
This feature is being rolled out slowly to users – we would love to hear your thoughts on it! We suspect this update means Instagram is slowly moving even further away from purely photo content, so it’s also definitely worth analysing your current Instagram strategy if it doesn’t yet include short-format video.
