The Brief
Cookhouse aimed for a revitalized image, one that would seamlessly align with the evolving landscape of Melbourne’s hospitality scene. Their vision was to create a brand identity that not only resonated with current trends but also showcased their dedication to delivering high-quality, locally sourced ingredients. At the core of this transformation was a desire to maintain their hallmark of friendly, approachable service, ensuring that both new and returning customers felt the warm, welcoming atmosphere that has defined Cookhouse for nearly a decade.
The Work
Our first step in understanding Cookhouse’s rebrand was identifying the need for an identity that truly reflected their products while reaching untapped audiences—specifically a younger, social media-savvy demographic. This insight drove the design approach, leading to the use of bold, approachable typography paired with playful graphic elements that made Cookhouse easily recognizable. The color palette was revamped from the existing store fit-out, incorporating brighter, warmer tones to convey the brand’s friendly and inviting nature. Red was chosen to symbolize the flames of the grill, a nod to their craft. Additionally, charming characters were created using elements from the logo to boost visual recognition and further engage the younger audience.
